World Sound Explorations
Musician, educator and composer Ryan Meisel performs a blend of Indigenous world music and jazz that honors his spiritual connection to nature and cultures from around the world.
He plays Native American flutes, saxophones, and Indigenous woodwinds including East Indian bansuri, Lithuanian skuduciai & birbyne, Irish flutes & whistles, Slovakian fujara, and Andean pan pipes.
The performance takes place at the Nature Center. Prior to this musical event, there's a presentation by Suzze Johnson from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. about the six shipwrecks she discovered as she flew around Rawley Point in an ultralight.
Meisel grew up outside of Milwaukee and honed his jazz skills under the tutelage of legendary bassist Richard Davis at UW-Madison and master jazz educators Ron Carter and Rodrigo Villanueva at Northern Illinois University. Learn more about the performer.
