Documentary Premiere of "Shine She Must: Keeping Cobia Alive"

Thursday, October 22, 2026 - 6:00pm

A submarine at sea at night.

A documentary chronicling USS Cobia’s journey through an extensive dry-dock maintenance project in 2025.

On Sept. 7 last year, World War II submarine USS Cobia left her home port in Manitowoc for Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay for long-overdue maintenance. Follow museum staff, shipyard crews, volunteers, and the waterfront community as they take on the massive task of preserving one of America’s most historically accurate fleet submarines. It's a story of craftsmanship, local pride, and the people determined to keep this remarkable piece of Wisconsin and American history alive.

A social hour begins at 6, the screening is at 7, and is followed by a Q&A session with sub curator Karen Duvalle and filmmaker Justin Pehrson.
