American Kestrels & Nestbox Research
Part of the Adult Learning Series.
American kestrels are North America’s smallest and most colorful falcon, but have been declining steadily over the last three decades. Danny Erickson, a wildlife biologist and master’s student at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, discusses the bird’s natural history, research, and conservation efforts across Wisconsin. He partners with many citizen scientists, state and local conservation agencies, and stalwart kestrel enthusiasts installing nestboxes to help monitor and conserve this icon of our grasslands.
After the indoor presentation, take an optional field trip to look for this bird on the preserve.
Fee: sliding scale of $3-$10/person (cash preferred).
Registration required by Monday, May 11; email jessicaj@woodlanddunes.org or call 920-793-4007.
