South Breakwater Trail Mural

A mural painted on brick of a green fish on a blue, green, and yellow background

The new South Breakwater Trail, connecting Mariners Trail and the South Breakwater on Lake Michigan here in Two Rivers, features both interpretive signage, telling the history of the harbor, and a large mural depicting fish of Lake Michigan.

The 110-foot long artwork was painted on the back wall of Seagull Marina’s maintenance building, abutting the trail. It was designed by David Carpenter. Artists Erin LaBonte, Don Krumpos and Rebecca Jabs assisted David in painting the mural.  The work was completed in the fall of 2019.

The trail was constructed by the City of Two Rivers, with funding assistance from Wisconsin’s Coastal Management Program and the West Foundation.
