Local coffee roaster Barnwood Coffee offers freshly roasted and brewed coffee for sale in the Van der Brohe parking lot on select Saturdays. $1 of every purchase goes to the Arboretum.
This medium roasted COFFEE, has notes of toffee, praline, and mellow fresh citrus zest; with a juicy citric acidity and a candy-like sweetness. The name of this special batch: Joya oculta (Hidden Gem).
Barnwood's bird-friendly coffee is certified by the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center, which means the coffee is grown on farms that use no pesticide or fertilizers, and that contain 40% of land forest, with a long-term plan for conservation; forest with at least a 12-meter canopy, with structural diversity; and at least 11 species of trees per farm, with 60% of vegetation being native to the land.
