Commissioning held for state’s newest large-scale solar energy project

NextEra Energy Resources and WPPI Energy executives, along with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Preston Cole, were on hand yesterday to formally commission the Point Beach Solar Energy Center.

The operation consists of 315,000 photovoltaic solar panels with the capacity to generate 100 megawatts of electricity. Over the next 20 years, the center is expected to generate nearly $8 million in additional revenue for Manitowoc County.
